![]() Meet Subhi, a refugee boy living in a world of depression and misery, a constant rotation of desolation. But he’s different. He doesn’t dwell on negatives but instead thinks about the sea. He doesn’t cry and sit alone, he thinks about the stories, the bone sparrow, Jimmie. The story is all about how meeting Jimmie can make his views and your own change for the better, your world is put into perspective …. Through Subhi, the reader experiences how it feels to have no home or voice, a loving family or safe environment and in this way we respect how lucky we are. Jimmie’s stories really show us the importance of family and caring about our future. A heart-wrenching, beautiful story. From the first line to the last I knew that I would be utterly moved, uplifted and filled full of hope. This book is for children aged 9-14, a great book for memorable reads. The Bone Sparrow is a treasure of a book, a shining jewel teaching us valid life lessons even for younger children.
